Seasons Greetings!
In November we hosted an intimate Tree Lighting Ceremony on the grounds of Hotel Dieu Shaver to kick-off our annual Snowflakes & Angels Christmas Campaign. We were honoured to have Sara Kovac, former patient, and her family join us as she “flipped the switch” that illuminated the tree and grounds of Hotel Dieu Shaver for patients, families and staff to enjoy.
We would like to introduce you to Sara, a young woman who shares her journey through rehabilitation. When Sara was admitted to Hotel Dieu Shaver in July 2022, she came to us labeled as a “mechanical lift”, this means she could not move on her own and needed assistance transitioning from bed to wheelchair. Sara is just one of the hundreds of patients who have received specialized care and rehabilitation at HDS this past year. Many who have had to rebuild their lives after a life-changing event, devastating disease, challenging injury, or even recovering from COVID-19.
Ensuring that Hotel Dieu Shaver is well equipped with the most up-to-date tools and services is something we all have a hand in. Donations received from the 2022 Snowflakes & Angels Christmas Campaign fund the purchase of priority patient care equipment that is not funded by the government. Funds raised this year will support the purchase of: medication carts, patient beds and rehabilitation needs.
We invite you to honour or celebrate a special Angel in your life by making a donation to the Snowflakes & Angels Christmas Campaign in honour or celebration of an Angel in their life. Donations of $50 or more, received on or before January 6th, will be published in the newspaper on January 14th.
