Meet Henry
“Hotel Dieu Shaver is the ticket to better health” – Henry Beckman, Hotel Dieu Shaver patient. Henry’s medical journey began 10 years ago when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. “HDS provides a real service to the community. For a small city like St. Catharines to have this… it’s BIG”.
Meet John
After a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2007, John underwent several medical interventions to aid with his symptoms. A spinal fusion in 2017 for his back problems, and brain surgery in 2019 to insert a brain implant which stimulates parts of the brain to reduce tremors were among the procedures.
The Foundation Office Has Moved
Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation has relocated to the southeast corner of the Outpatient Building.

Strawberry Social
Hotel Dieu Shaver (HDS) Foundation hosted a Strawberry Social celebrating a record year transferring $1.5 million to HDS alongside our donors and staff who made it possible.
New Executive Director Appointed
Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristina Manzi as Executive Director.
New Accessible Audiology Sound Booth
Thanks to significant grants from the David S. Howes Fund at the Niagara Community Foundation ($43,500) and from The Ontario Paper Thorold Foundation ($50,000), Hotel Dieu Shaver now has three large sound booths to serve the community.
Meet Shawn!
My cancer journey started in 2016 when I was diagnosed with tumors in my brain, lungs and kidney. When my doctors told me I had 18 brain tumors I knew I was in for the fight of my life. I was given 18 months to live and that was 7 years ago – I’m not sure why I’m still here but I’m grateful and will live my life to the fullest - each and every miraculous day!
