In March 2024, while returning home from a relaxing family vacation, a devastating car accident changed Kamala’s life in an instant. In just two months at HDS, Kamala went from bed bound to walking with no assistance!

“Hotel Dieu Shaver is the ticket to better health” – Henry Beckman, Hotel Dieu Shaver patient. Henry’s medical journey began 10 years ago when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. “HDS provides a real service to the community. For a small city like St. Catharines to have this… it’s BIG”.
After a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2007, John underwent several medical interventions to aid with his symptoms. A spinal fusion in 2017 for his back problems, and brain surgery in 2019 to insert a brain implant which stimulates parts of the brain to reduce tremors were among the procedures.
Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation has relocated to the southeast corner of the Outpatient Building.

Hotel Dieu Shaver Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristina Manzi as Executive Director.
Thanks to significant grants from the David S. Howes Fund at the Niagara Community Foundation ($43,500) and from The Ontario Paper Thorold Foundation ($50,000), Hotel Dieu Shaver now has three large sound booths to serve the community.
Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Foundation raises and manages funds for patient-care equipment, education, specialty programs, and improvements to treatment areas to support exemplary patient care at Hotel Dieu Shaver, Niagara’s Only rehabilitation and complex care hospital.
