The Hotel Dieu Shaver (HDS) family gathered together on May 30, 2023 for a special dedication in honour of a beloved colleague and celebration of a transformational gift made to HDS Foundation.
I couldn’t imagine where I would be physically, emotionally and spiritually had I not had the opportunity to attend The Rankin Family Cancer Rehab Program.

Fully funded by the Steve Ludzik Foundation and generous donations from the community, this unique and one of a kind program was launched at HDS and has been meeting the unmet needs of the Parkinson’s community for the last nine years. In a recent letter to HDS, the Steve Ludzik Foundation has indicated that they will no longer be funding the Parkinson’s Rehab Program at the hospital.
To honour the wonderful care Garry and Kathy's father received at HDS, Kathy Milligan and Garry Coles requested donations to HDS Foundation in lieu of gifts for their wedding.
It is vital that our Speech Language Pathology team at Hotel Dieu Shaver (HDS) have the tools they need to restore health, rebuild lives and renew hope for every patient that comes through the program. When the request for a new Visi-Pitch System – at a cost of $21,000 – came, HDS Foundation turned to a group who strives to make a difference in the communities in which they live – the Rotary Club of St. Catharines.
Jack, who recovered from a stroke at Hotel Dieu Shaver in 2009, was so impressed by the compassion and care he received, started planning a fundraiser from his hospital bed.
Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Foundation raises and manages funds for patient-care equipment, education, specialty programs, and improvements to treatment areas to support exemplary patient care at Hotel Dieu Shaver, Niagara’s Only rehabilitation and complex care hospital.
